Several polls weve conducted across the Internet have confirmed that a majority of Silent Hill fans prefer this soundtrack to its predecessor. The answer lies simply in the fact that this score was more musical in nature, whereas the first was more frightening noises and not as easy to just pop in the cd player and listen to. (Although I have, many times!)

Akira Yamaoka composed a stirring combination of tracks that sooth with the sound of a piano and strings, then make our heart beat fast with strange creeks and powerful Kodo drums. Enjoy reliving your adventures in the fog with such tracks as "Theme of Laura", which was used in the opening CG sequence. Feel James longing for Mary with "Truth" or relax in Pete's Bowl-o-Rama with "Alone In the Town." Heart-pounding tracks such as "The Darkness That Lurks in Our Mind" will bring back tense moments of blasting zombie nurses in Brookhaven Hospital.

An added bonus to this album is that while some tracks from the game didn't make it to the soundtrack album, a few interesting tracks made it on there that weren't in the game. Akira Yamaoka teamed up with Japan's DJ Sandman to create some funky dance mixes like "The Reverse Will" and "Terror In the Depths of the Fog." You'll also experience rocking tunes like "Angels Thanatos." Not your ordinary soundtrack, this is a must have for all serious Silent Hill 2 enthusiasts!
